The team of Chatham cyclists

The team of Chatham cyclists
Paul & Teresa Hoekstra along with yours truly, Cynthia Aukema and 118 other registered cyclists are riding their bikes from Sea to Sea this summer to end the plight of poverty throughout the world. The Chatham community, family and business associatates have been extremely generous and we have surpassed our minimum goal of $30,000. To date (June 25) we have raised $39,105.00 Wow, this just blows me away. Again, thanks so much for all your support.

Synod and Gear Truck

Reality is setting in. If I want to see my bike, tent, summer clothing ever again I need to fly out to Seattle and claim them.

Yesterday, Ralph and I made the trek to Grand Rapids to drop off my bike and gear. We got a glimpse of the gear truck (lots of racks, plenty of power bars, and even florescent lighting above to help with the visibility). Very cool.

Synod is also in session this week. We where privileged to participate in a presentation updating Synod on the number of cyclists and the goals of the tour. It was great to meet a number of other cyclists and some of the staff that has been instrument in organizing this Bike Tour.

Only 8 more sleeps till Seattle.

Hi Cynthia;
I was checking out the SeatoSea website today and ended up reading your blogs. I'll probably check back regularly during your trip - I'm thinking Louis Bosma won't post much information. This is quite an undertaking; our thoughts and prayers go with you. Safe travels!

Thanks,Maria. Hmm, I'm trying to figure out a way to just reply to you, but I think this will be posted. I'll have to do some research on that front. Blogging is new to me but it is my intent to post some sort of information daily.....time will tell. I appreciate all the prayer; those mountains are kinda BIG.

I'm getting caught up in the excitement also, even though I'm not riding until August. :-( Monday is going to feel weird "back home" here in London.

Safe Travels! Bike Fun!

Blessings on you!

What do you get when you put together a roomful of scrapbooking vendors, and scrapbookers or card making enthustics? I call it a great way to raise $9,000! Thanks again to all the participants, vendors and volunteers that helped in the kitchen and everyone else who played a part in both of the scrapbooking weekends.
